Old frens met up
Last week, one of our colleagues who went to work in PHX for more than a year, came back for a short vacation. Actually, it is her sister's wedding ceremony this weekend, so as a sister, she should come back and attend the joyful event.
A few of us went to have lunch @ Amarin Heavenly Thai, Mid Valley, a treat from the big boss. I have never been there before, but i heard some good compliments about their food. Price wise, more to the high end side, so we were really lucky to be able to enjoy the food for free.
The entourage. Lee Shin, 2nd from left.
We had a lot of fun, discovering different version of Hokkiens, whom some of us are. Lee Shin for example hails from the north Hokkien, where as Jeff and Eddy are more to the south side. Me on another hand, is a mix of both...
Well, i can explain this. My grandma was from Tanjung Malim, and her family spoke North Hokkien. My grandpa was an immigrant from China so his Hokkien is very "chim" (the tone of the language is very deep) and are more similar to the South Hokkien now. So we, the next 3rd generation had all the languages mixed up. O_o
U know, i can speak to my bro in 4 languages on one single sentence. Believe it or not, we add up Malay, English, Hokkien and Cantonese into our communications. You might be shocked when u hear us! But frankly, i speak more to the North side, so i have no problem communicating with Lee Shin in Hokkien.
So there we were, 4 of us, exchanging words in the restaurant. I bet the waiter was surprised seeing what we were doing then. :P
It was a nice chat we all had. And she is still as pretty as she used to be. Pretty and SMART to be exact!
Till we meet again.
