Bang!

BANG!

There was a loud noise outside my house this morning, during the wee hours. As usual, i was still sleeping very soundly on my cosy bed without knowing what has happened. For those of u who didn't know me that well, i can sleep like a pig. Seriously. Once my mom warned me that it is not a good thing for me, cos i might be burnt to death if there is any fire in my house... O_o

Just now, my aunt told me about the accident when i saw a truck and an averagely wrecked car in front of my house. Apparently, there is this Malay guy, either he was superb sleepy or superb drunk, lost control of his car after turning down the slope, and knocked my fence.

The beautifully planted trees were uprooted from the ground, the side borders by the road were knocked out of place, the drain was filled with unwanted soil from the ground, and the front of my house was filled with shattered glasses from the car.

Oh my god. What a mess!

Uprooted trees.

The accident site.

A truck lifting the damaged car.

Look at the trail of the wheels on the ground, right in front of my house.

This is the second time my house was being knocked by drunken/sleepy drivers. The first time was even worse, cos the gate fell down and we were left unsecured for days. I guess living at a corner house at the cross road aint so good after all. Some Chinese believe that it is not a good idea staying at the crossroad, that kinda place is normally "spirited". Accidents-prone area, as a matter of fact. -_-"

Oh well, we have stayed there for the past 3 decades and counting. I guess we are already used to it.

Shit. Gotta go.. have to rush to the banks now. Note the word "banks", i am officially the bank girl for my family.

Babies are cute

I just love how they manage to make full use of the three clumps of clouds. Very creative indeed.

Last nite, my team lead's wife gave birth to a healthy baby girl, weighing 3.5kg. Both mother and baby are doing fine. I bet he is now busy taking care of the newborn while his wife gonna take a good rest, after 9 months of pregnancy. Neways, congrats!

As me and my colleagues were talking bout the happy news, I realized that my team has a very high growing rate. Last year, out of 4 newborns, 3 of them were from my team. O_o

But it is a good thing. And i am really happy for them.

Happy Big-day Lai Yeen!

Few days ago, i received a booklet from MBF cards, listing all the discounts and privileges i could get from several of their merchants. Then this particular promotions caught me eyes.

MBF Countdown Cardmember's enjoy 10% savings @ Fandango's Restaurant & Grill. The photos of their food attached in the page looked so deelliccioousss. *drools*

A Mexican cuisine restaurant.

So i suggested this place as the venue to celebrate Lai Yeen's birthday on Sat. Let's go Mexican this time! *evil intention of my own*

Nice bar.

Left to right, top to bottom ; Chicken Fiesta Salad, Mexican Eggrolls, Seafood Spaghetti, Quesadillas, Chicken Fried Chicken, Pizza Napoletana, Grilled Nor Salmon and Ultimate Nachos.

I love the Mexican Eggrolls and Quesadillas the most! They are just fantastic! *yum yum* U guys should try them if u happen to drop by here for a meal.

The artistic side of the restaurant.

As we were enjoying the singing performance in the restaurant that nite, there was a loud cheer from the nearby mamak restaurant and food court. No doubt there was a football match going on, and one team scored a goal.

Today i read the paper. Liverpool won the match against Manchester United, 1-0. *what?* Liverpool has finally beaten MU in the FA cup after 85 years. They have broken the jinx!

My frens are gonna hate this. They are the ultimate MU supporters. I can imagine how is their reaction at that particular moment. Sorry guys, have to accept the fact dy.

Exhausted again...

I was very exhausted today, both physically and mentally.

I have no energy to work, my brain aint working normally as it should be. Yes, i know i was not being very productive today. There are 2 reports pending on my side, but the queries are giving me headache. -_-

And at this particular time, a very close buddy of mine since secondary decided to call me up. She was having a very bad mood, she seems to have lost herself in the game of love.

I need to lend her my helping hand and support her from falling. This is the least that i can do for her now, until her situation becomes better.

Now i am really exhausted. I need to go to sleep.

Firewall

It has been a long time since i last went for cheap movies on a Wednesday. The slot was fully reserved for dancing class, but now, not anymore. Schedule changed, and im all supporting it. Yes!

A bunch of us went for Firewall, starring Harison Ford in GSC, MV last nite. The traffic was terrible; yup, rain was one of the culprits. It was raining practically every evening for the last couple of days. But yet, my house had no water supply twice this week. Ironic huh?!

I was complaining to a fren regarding the traffic, and the amount of time i spent on the road daily. Then she just replied with one sentence, "Is there a place in KL and PJ area which is not jam one?". I would like to know too.

Coming back to the movie, it was so-so only. But some of my colleagues were complaining that it was rather boring and the pace was kinda slow. Well, i can still accept that part and the story line being the typical one man save all type of movie. I am still ok, seriously.

But the ending is not realistic, although it's a good one. That is my only feedback. I am not gonna elaborate on what happened. I'll leave that to yourself. Go figure.

There is this interesting conversation at the beginning of the movie between colleagues in Ford's office, which kinda struck me at this moment.

"Why are u ignoring me?"
"Listen, we have both did our part. U asked me out, and I said NO. So the next step is, u should go and ask somebody else, and not keep asking me again!"

Well said!! This is already so obvious that she is not keen on u, nor having anything beyond the line. I dont think that is very hard to understand, rite? U guys do understand too, rite?

Btw, i learned a new word today. Someone told me that i am "loquacious".. he is really a master in language... learned from the newspaper wor. How come i never come across that word when i read the paper? Or is it the English in Singapore's tabloids are better?

*thinks*thinks*

FGS Dong Zen

It was a long ride to the Lantern cum Flower Festival 2006 @ FGS Dong Zen, Jenjarom yesterday. By the time Clive reached my house, it was already raining heavily. Traffic started to jam up @ the MRR2 and Kesas highway. We were both praying hard in the car for the clouds to clear or better still, drive faster so that we could overcome the cloudy area. Haha...

Rain rain go away,
Come again another day,
Little Jane wants to play...

Judging from the past experience, he admitted that he brings rain to wherever he goes.. *gulp*

But luckily, the weather was ok there. No rain. But it was super crowded in the temple and its surrounding. I can see more heads than the flowers and lanterns.

The lion and dragon are both fighting for the Dragon Ball!

I couldn't snap the front view of the Kuan Yin, too many ppl blocking me. But u can check out Clive's collection, he got one good shot (provided he post it).

Memang ada gaya, nampaknya.

Here are some more photos taken that day/nite. I have a lot more, but too lazy to post them all up. :P

Finally, we went to Sri Petaling for a late dinner @ Golden Bread Cafe. I never knew there is so many ways of cooking char kui. Ice cream, sea weed, ham, chicken floss, fries, burger.....

Cool char kui dishes can be found here.

Salted fish rice and Malaysian char kui roll (char kui + sea weed + ham wrapped inside chee cheong fun)

Hoi Gong Yin

It was the 4th time i had "Lou Sang". Does that mean i am gonna have 4 times better luck this year?? How i wish that could be true!

Peanuts anyone?

Yee Sang spilled all over the table..

And the leftovers..

The macro pictures are courtesy of Juan Yean. Thanks!

There were lots of ppl having company's CNY lunch, just like us @ the Wong Poh Restaurant, Dataran Prima that day. But we made the most noise and did a lot of yum seng, as usual. -_-

After today, CNY is officially over! 15 days of celebration and mass-feasting and playing cards (not gambling, mind u :P), it's all coming back to normal again. Work and work and work...

Nevertheless, Happy Chinese New Year for the last time this year, and also Happy Chap Goh Mei!

Snapshot of the moon i took yesterday evening. Round and bright!

Albert Einstein!

I saw something extraordinary tonight.

I was driving home along Jalan Tun Razak just now after the usual badminton session, feeling a bit tired. My mind was partly blank (a part of it is needed for driving) as i was enjoying the chilly nite. The past few nites were damn hot!

Then my eye catches something weird not too far in front of my car. It looked like a motorcycle with a very bright rear light. But as i go nearer, i realised that it wasnt any ordinary vehicle, but a recumbent bike carrying an Albert Einstein lookalike man, with the same blown up hairstyle! :O

Albert Einstein.

Bored with normal bikes?

"Recumbent bikes have a laid-back riding position, with you reclining in a padded seat instead of sitting on a saddle. Your feet are higher up as well. Recumbents are more comfortable than standard (“upright”) bikes, because there is no strain on you neck, back or wrists. You also have more of your body in contact with the bike, so painful pressure points are reduced. Recumbents are also faster - your legs are in front of you instead of below you, so the aerodynamics are better. Recumbents are at least 30% faster than standard bikes, and can be a lot more - the current speed record on the flat is over 80mph! Because of this, recumbents have been banned from competing against conventional bikes since 1934. "

I was almost being caught driving recklessly, as a result of staring at that man on the bike for too long thru my rear mirror. I really cannot believe my eyes!

Imagine this, Einstein is trying on his new invention... Haha... that is so cool *dreams*

What a discovery.

Back to work..

Finally, back to the office again after a long holiday. Felt so lazy and tired. And there are no angpows from the bosses, yes, u are more fortunate than me. Be thankful and stop complaining okie!

Today is super hot. I felt like my skin is burning under the hot hot sun while walking a short distance for lunch just now. Some say the temperature has reached 37 degree Celcius, oh my! *sweating*

Now im happy sitting in the office under the fully blast aircond... before i freeze in a short while. O_o

Yesterday evening, some distant relatives came over to visit us. I have no idea how to call them, seriously, i got too many relatives. So, i guess a common "aunty" and "uncle" will do :P

My distant nephew, a.k.a. small Edison :)

Isnt he cute? I think he looks similar to Edison Chen, a HK celebrity, dont he? There would be tonnes of girls falling for him when he is grown up.

Hokkien nite

Bro went back to Labuan yesterday. Which means, i got my car back! *yay*

Well, dont get me wrong. He did not steal or hijack my car, u silly. He just borrowed my car for the 2 weeks he was back here in KL for the CNY holidays. I dont mind, really, cos he comes back once in a few months, and it is sad seeing him not able to go anywhere when im at work cos his Vios is in Labuan. Therefore, during the festive break, when im not working, i let him use my car, the only transport in my family. ;)

So that explains why i couldnt join some of the outings last week. Sorry people..

I was being a good girl, staying at home watching TVB dramas "Wars of In-Laws". Was stuck in front of the TV, like a leech... until yesterday.

After fetching bro to KLIA in the afternoon, i went straight down to Seremban to visit my landlady and some of my ex-colleagues. While i was on my way to the airport, i realised that the petrol is running low, cos the indicator started blinking. But alas, there is no petrol station in sight, not until about 20 km away. Oh man, really scare the shit out of me! *phew*

Lesson to be learned : remember to look at the petrol level after lending others ur car. -_-

Sbn town, long time no see.

I got a little surprise when i stepped my feet into JC's hse that day. I was like trapped in a time machine and went back to the Ming Dynasty in China. *jaws dropped*

My first sight into the hse.

Emperor and the queen.

The emperor's concubines.. muahaha...

The grand entrance.

Cool eh? I felt like visiting a museum. Haha.. But it was a great gathering we had, guys.

My ex-landlady's hse was filled with people by the time i reached. There was going to be a god worshipping celebration that nite (we called it 'bai tin gong' in Cantonese), and that was the reason why i was invited. There were neighbours, frens and relatives, all with their own families. And for the first time ever, i really felt so out of place in that "once-supposed-to-be-my-home" place. Dunno where to stand, who to talk to, or what to do. My ex-hsemates all not around. Satu pergi Singapore for business trip, and satu lagi balik kampung. O_o

Yummy food served for the guests.. *drooling*

Killing the crabs softly.

But being "me", i managed to break the ice with some aunties in the kitchen, whom i've seen during my stay in Sbn. It wasnt easy after so long, and some more they got tonnes of food to cook, and they wont let me help.

Aunties @ work.

Roasted pig.

What a nite. *puffy eyes*

Out of idea

I have been going out practically everyday eversince i came back from Ipoh. But most of the time, we will end up wandering on the road, thinking where to go, which kinda waste a lot of time actually. What to do... my frens have been to almost all of our close fren's hse on the first and second day of CNY, when i was paying visits to my relatives in KL and Ipoh. T_T

This year seems to be abit boring. My fren started to point finger at the "long" CNY breaks. We used to start work around 4th or 5th day for the past few years, so the free time was just ngam ngam for visitings and some movies. But this year, there are not many nice movies to be watched. *sigh*

Yesterday, Sok Yee, Ji Ric and I weren't too willing to stay at home, especially on this super hot weather. Wanted to grab a last minute karaoke session, but it was not successful. So we moved our lazy bums to CK's hse and yacked there for a few hours, while the tv was switched on, showing some old cartoon show. Rather pathetic, rite? I know...

Later on, we headed to Low Yat Plaza and each of us got ourselves something. Ji Ric with his brand new ADSL modem, Sok Yee with her Bluetooth adapter and me with my new USB hub. And not to forget, we ransacked a few DVD shops in Sg Wang just for one movie, Perhaps Love! We couldnt seem to get that particular movie anywhere else, dunno why it was selling like hot cakes. Some VCD sellers even told us that we cant possibly get them cos it wasnt allowed to be sold in the market. What the heck??! We got one immediately after that, at one small shop just a few steps away! O_o

Telling lies with eyes wide open... -_-"

Oh, before i forget, a fren got himself a new baby. He proudly showed me his new gadget when i went out with him in Ipoh. He can do a lot of things, or so i was told.

"when he saw pretty girls, he will do this" *blow whistle*
"oooo!"
"when he saw ugly ones, he will do this" *puke*
"eeeeee!"
"when he is excited, he will do this" *dancing hip hop*
"wahh!"
"and when he is tired, he will sleep" *snoreeeeee*
"cool"

His new baby robot..

I really like the baby, no wonder my fren said i am a bit tomboyish at times. Where got girls like these kind of gadgets one... :P

Gong Xi Fa Cai!

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!

This is supposed to be the day where we celebrate the beginning of a new year, but now, it is also the only day where we get to catch up with those "long time no see" relatives, cousins and frens.

And u will hear a lot of the same questions being thrown to you each year, such as :

if u are still studying - "how many A's u've got in your exam?"
if u are working - "how much do u earn?"
if u are have reached legal age - "do u have a bf/gf?"
if u are attached - "when are u getting married?"
if u are married - "when getting a baby?"

*never-ending*

-_-

A few of my cousins and I.

Food served in my uncle's place.. *slurps*

The short trip back to my mom's hometown in Ipoh was good. It has been 2 years since we last went back for this auspicious occasion. All my aunties and uncles are so happy to see my bro cos they seldom get to meet him. He is always at Labuan working when they came to KL.

Actually, bro wasnt too keen to go back, cos he got complained he got nothing to do there. But mom nagged so much till he gave in. O_o

I got no problem, as long as i still have time for my frens back in KL too. I can talk to my aunties about anything..

Okie, it is about time to go out. Ciao..
