Happy New Year 2007!

This may sound a lil bit stupid, i admit.

Yesterday was the 1st time i took the subway to Midvalley Megamall. I know i made it sound like i'm spoiled cos all these while, i went there by car. U cant deny that it is a lot more convenient driving than taking public transport in Malaysia, past experiences taught me that. I hope the government is going to improve this since it is gonna be Visit Malaysia Year 2007.

By the time i reached the Ampang Park station, i realised that i didnt know exactly where is my next stop (how would i know if i never done it). I seriously had no idea, so i called up a fren for advices. She laughed at me for being such a lil kid since i am the local KL folk, and she is not. Yea, I knew that is coming. Laugh all u want! *blushed*

Rite, so i have to take the subway from the Ampang Park station to KL Sentral first. From there, switch to the KTM Komuter (train) to Midvalley. Another "achievement" before the year ends. Haha.

It was great seeing u guys again, a gathering that i was looking forward so much. We havent seen each other for more than a year, nothing much really changed. Thanks for being there; Angela, Siow, Kim Fat and Michael.

A year has gone and made us strong,
The path was long but we walked it with a song,
There were fears and tears but we had reasons for CHEERS!

Happy New Year!!

Update @ 5.30pm
Eddy wrote this to me an hour ago, he is indeed a good poet!

A new year a new beginnings,
Wishing you a blessed & harmonious year,
Never to be taken aback by our shortcomings,
Cause that is what makes us stronger with sheer!

The time of December

December is the last month of the year,
To mark the end of a great successful year,
Through thick and thin we stayed together,
Let's cherish these memories forever and ever.

In a few more days, we will be stepping into the year of 2007. How time flies. It seemed like yesterday when i was still in uni, all those IT folks in the world (including my professor) was fretting about the Y2K bug that is going to attack us. 7 years has passed since then. What a journey.

Looking back, i think i have grown up a lot (well, not physically - i know u are gonna say this!). A lot of my friends said i am more mature than what i am supposed to be at my age, but i guess upbringing and experience (not so good one) do make a difference. It made me who i am now.

Being in a financially challenged family has helped me to realise to be thankful of what we have. My parents used to quarrel alot when it comes to $$, but i knew they love each other alot too. So when dad passed away due to stroke when i was just 16, the world came tumbling down for us. My mom became the sole breadwinner for the family and we struggled quite a bit to go on with our lives. Me and bro worked during holidays and weekends to support ourselves a little so mom didnt have to spend so much money on us.

Anyhow, we managed to pull it thru and the rest as they say is history. Enclosed are some pictures taken in London from a dear fren whom i havent seen for a long time. He has become a frequent traveller due to the nature of his job (SAP). I used to envy him alot for being able to experience the different cultures of another country, but he told me he is tired of travelling. It is cold in London, and he misses home so much (i can tell from our conversation in Yahoo Msgr). If u are back for CNY, call me.

I hope PHX is not so cold next month.

St Mary Axe.

London bridge? I was told that it isnt..

Yes, we are ONers.

Merry Christmas!

HO HO HO!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

There were lesser traffic on the road today. I guess a lot of people are still on their vacation somewhere, hence the quiet city.

I didnt go anywhere last nite for the Christmas countdown celebration, which happened to surprise a few of my frens. Well, i dont blame them, it was indeed the first time i stayed at home sleeping on a X'mas eve. Usually, we would either go out to have a couple of drinks or watch the fireworks when the clock strikes twelve. Too tired.

When i woke up this morning, there are several text messages in my mobile. Those lovely Christmas greetings, thanx. Sorry if u were waiting for my supposed replies, cos i was helping Santa with all his gifts ;)

Nevertheless, hope u guys had fun. Here's wishing everyone a joyous Christmas!

December babies

I was checking my phone just now, and i saw one text msg lying in the draft folder. Out of curiosity, i opened it and it was a birthday greeting that was failed to send out. To make things worse, i just noticed it after 5 days. Oh gosh, she almost killed me for that :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JADE!

Love ya lots! *muaks*

And these are some of the birthdays that i've missed out in my post.

Heng Kok 10th Dec
Min Min 10th Dec
Seng Loong 19th Dec
CP Foo 22nd Dec

May all your wishes come true!

Support, Support

Yesterday's team building event @ Equitorial Hotel, Bangi was fun. Although it was only a one day event, but we learnt and understood a lot through the outdoor activities that were planned for us. I, myself never thought we could build a boat by using 3 cardboards and 3 surfboards only. A discovery indeed. *amazed*

When u think u can, u can!

Some of us went for a swim in the pool during the 2 hours gap we had before dinner. It has been quite a while since i last went to the pool. Seriously, I guess laziness got over me after i've graduated from the swimming class. *blek*

So my legs are aching after the unexpectedly long swim (and a few rounds of competition - who can swim from one end to the other without taking another breath). I can feel them screaming for a massage. How i wish i could get one right now..

Our buffet dinner venue.

When we got to Cafe Lavista @6.30pm sharp, the place was very much empty. We were obviously the earliest customers, waiting eagerly to snap up all the food that was served on the bar like some hungry lions on the loose. Haha.

Picture cant lie, u see how early we were? The waiter was still cleaning the floor...

The Itallian food corner, serving pasta, pizza and lasagna.

I get to snap a photo of this giant fish, before anyone touch it.

Actually, i requested the waiter (who was about to cut it to smaller pieces) to stop cos i wanna take a pic. He must have thought either i was some food critic from a mag or i was lunatic. Whatever his mind chose to believe, he was sure caught with surprise and whispered to his other waiter fren while laughing sheepishly. *blushed*

Seafood craze.

Raw oyster.. i will never gonna eat that!

There are lotsa pictures taken but i dont think i wanna post them all up. Here is the last one, a nice deco of the cafe in conjunction of the X'mas celebration.

Till the next time. Ciao.

Holiday is coming..

Everyone is talking about their coming holidays. Some are taking days off to go back to their hometown, some are planning for vacations elsewhere (Singapore is a very hot choice, X'mas is beautiful there), some are taking this chance to bond with family members, and etc.

I wont be going anywhere, well at least for now. I have no plans for any vacation, but im looking forward to my business trip to US next month though. It is winter now so i have to get ready with a couple of winter/thick clothing to keep me warm thru the day and nite. I hope i get to catch some snow on the way to Grand Canyon. I have always wanted to see snow myself (not in TV), somehow they kinda made me all hyped and excited. OK, that's the kid in me talking..

I have to shop for X'mas gifts this weekend. I havent got the chance to do it last week, so i have to make it to the mall on Sun, by hook or by crook. I can imagine the crowd in my mind. Gosh, hopefully i'll get everything i need.

For those of u that i wont be talking or meeting up until X'mas is over, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Double Decker vs S.W.

We WON! Long live the Double Decker team!

If u are getting a bit confused of what i was screaming about here, no worries. This post is purely dedicated to all of my team members who have been supportive and performing up to the expectation.

My company organized a Bowling Tournament @ One Utama last nite. I was selected as the leader of my bowling team, which consisted of a randomly picked members. There was another team, S.W. (which actually means Sure Win, pretty arrogant) which was formed by a lot of good bowlers. Hence, they challenged us (the weaker ones) in the tournament. Since I have always love challenge, so bring it on! *planning some strategies*

First game was really exciting. We somehow played next to each other's lane. Talking about coincident! So there we were cheering for ourselves and there they were trying to blow us down. In the end, we cheered for the "other" team, when they missed the pins. *haha*

Playing the team leader role puts a bit of pressure on me as well, cos they are looking up to me for a great start. I played terribly on the first game but luckily JY made it up by scoring a high amount of strikes and spares. We lost to them in the first, but came back strongly in another 2 games after that :)

U guys should really see how we tried to divert the other team's attention in order to break their concentration. It was real funny.

The result was finally calculated based on the best 2 games out of 3 and we made it as the Champion. I was also the top female bowler and JY as the top male bowler. The Double Decker team TOOK THEM ALL!

The team and individual (female) medal.

We are happy not only because we are the Champion, but most importantly, we whacked the S.W. team!

S.W. == So What?

p/s: no harsh feelings ya!

Happily Ever After, Vero!

There is a lot of people getting married this year. Almost every other month i would have a few wedding dinners to attend to. Seriously made me ponder for a while, is this the most popular/common age that we are supposed to get married?

Welcome to Tangkak!

Anyway, me and my ex-coursemates made our way to Tangkak, Johor for a wedding luncheon of my another ex-(coursemate + hsemate) . I havent seen her for more than a year (the last time was when i went down to Singapore for training), so i was really looking forward to it. Moreover, the luncheon was also some sort of a gathering to meet some of the people that i havent met since we've graduated from uni.

The wedding went perfectly well and since it was quite early, we took a short trip to the Malacca town. Where else could we been but Jonker Street, once the richman's street is now a living proof of Malacca's rich baba-nyonya heritage. The street is popular with antique hunters and collectors worldwide. Some of the shops have a collection of antiques which date back as far as 300 years. Strolling along the street, you will notice that the buildings are immaculately constructed with elaborate carvings on the pillars and walls. These intricate adornments reflect the rich heritage of the Peranakan or Straits Chinese community.

Anyone who comes here will never forget about their ever famous Cendol. We had a few to satisfy our cravings.

From l-r, top-bottom: Durian Cendol, Baba Cendol, Soursop Ice-Blended and ABC (ice blended mixed with colorful sweetener)

To end this post, i'll just have to say Congratulations to Vero and her hubby, Ah Hou! *muaks*

Congratulations Wai Hoe!

It was another happy event, Wai Hoe's finally a family man! I guess he is now happily enjoying his honeymoon in Hong Kong.

Most of us went for his wedding dinner @ Tai Thong Restaurant last Sat. I was late, cos there was traffic jam on my way back home. Very weird on a Sat evening, u see, so i was caught off guard. And plus all the time needed for me to take a shower, dress up and make up.. u know how long a lady can take. I wont tell u exactly how much time i spent, go figure it yourself!

Food was ok but IMHO, the one we had in Wei Siang's wedding dinner was better. And it was definitely more spacious back then cos we had a corner all by ourselves so we can really go crazy without annoying anyone. Everyone was so nice and quiet during Wai Hoe's...

After numerous attempts of "yum seng" (again), the groom was in a super "high" mood that nite that he actually suggested us to go clubbing after the event. We obviously couldnt be so bad to drag him out on the first nite of his married life! Haha. And moreover, i have another wedding to attend the next day in Tangkak, Johor. Gotta wake up early and travel for 2.5 hours.. lack of sleep is not something that i would want to experience, especially when i am supposed to be the driver.

Oh yeah, did i tell u that we have a Queen Drinker in da house? No one can fight with her, man, she drank like nobody's business, as if she was drinking water and there was no sign of her getting drunk at all. No red face, no silly moves, no stupid talk. Pure normal! Yes, those who has drank with her before would know who i am talking about... *being mysterious*

Anyway, everyone had a good time there. Congratulations once more, Wai Hoe!

I remembered i have not posted any photos of Wei Siang's wedding as promised, so here goes two.

*UPDATE: i realized this post was kept as "draft" for the past few days. i totally forgot about it.. gosh, memory lapse.. :P

Keeping fit?

Y.E.S. won over PC Fair!

Instead of going to the fair to get some electronic gadgets (computer related), i came home with two other kinds of electronic gadgets - OSIM uZap and OSIM iPamper.

Alrite, stop where u are. I did not, repeat after me, I DID NOT get the slimming belt! I am sure some of u would have been cursing me if i were to buy that. Most of my frens thought that i am too thin, which is really not the case. I am a petite girl, so being the small size me, i cant afford to have a lot of fats, can i? I would be looking like a Humpty Dumpty then. O_o

uZap - Slimming belt.

iPamper - Hand held massager.

Actually, my mom is the one planning to slim down. She has been eating and growing a lot for the past couple of years so when she goes back to meet my aunts during Chinese New Year each year, she would get a lot of comments about her size. She could not reduce her food intake too much because she has gastric problem since young. And she rarely exercise, due to the fact that she is aging and at the same time dealing with osteoporosis. It is just too risky.

Since we heard a lot of good reviews from multiple sources, she decided to get the slimming belt to help her achieve her goal. And i am going to help her to stay on track and on schedule, a surprise before going back during CNY next year. :)

Look at the pretty lady in the uZap's advertisement. Now u know where all the ladies spent on... -__-

Sonija looks so gorgeous in this shot!

PC Fair 2006

The Pikom PC Fair 2006 started yesterday for 3 consecutive days @ the KL Convention Centre, KL. Being me, a gadget enthusiast, it is absolutely normal for an outing at such places. And with frens having the same interest, there is no way i could get away from these temptations. Danny, u going?

Anyway, i am not really sure if i will be able to make it this time around. I have only Sunday (tomoro) to make the trip down, and that is the last day of the fair (which usually means the highest number of patrons recorded from the 3 days). The slightest thought of the crowd that i might be facing there, sent shivers to my spine. Imagine being sandwich-ed among the smelly people, some of whom have been sweating profusely for the whole day due to the shortcoming of air-cond to support the mass crowd. Oh-gosh.

And with the Year End Sales ongoing at the same time, i am tempted to go to the malls too. Hah. Okie, stop complaining guys, u can go shopping as well. It is not only meant for ladies, u see.

The 'Funtastic' Festival

Ladies, are u listening?!

The most awaited Year End Sale a.k.a. YES is back! Now, please control urself and hold on to your credit cards (no one carries tonnes of cash around anymore). I know the temptation is hard to resist, heck, spend all you want!

And for the first time ever, Tourism Malaysia is organising the Kuala Lumpur International Buskers' Festival 2006 from 2 - 10 Dec, in conjunction with the Malaysia Year End Sale 2006 and Visit Malaysia Year 2007. There are a lot of activities/events lined up in several areas at the heart of the city, sounds really fun.

Hopefully i can catch some of them during that period. Have a busking good time!

Happy Thanksgiving!

It is the greatest Thanksgiving that i've ever had in years.

A little birdie told me few days ago that i am going to have a surprise today. And guess what made me smile for the whole day?

My new "toy".

I have been wanting to get an MP3 player for some time, so this iPod shuffle is just perfect. Right on time.

Baby, I am all yours tonite! (sorry Nemo*, you'll have to make way for my little iPod).

Thank you so much, dear Santa! U know who u are. I got my Christmas wish granted early this year. *muaks*

*Nemo (the fish) is my companion at nite.

How company policy begins...

Start with a cage containing five monkeys. In the cage, hang a banana on a string and put a set of stairs under it. Before long, a monkey will go to the stairs and start to climb towards the banana. As soon as he touches the stairs, spray all of the monkeys with cold water. After awhile, another monkey makes an attempt with the same result. Pretty soon, when any monkey tries to climb the stairs, the other monkeys will try to prevent it.

Now, turn off the cold water. Remove one monkey from the cage and replace it with a new one. The new monkey sees the banana and wants to climb the stairs. To his horror, all of the other monkeys attack him. After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to climb the stairs, he will be assaulted. Next, remove another of the original five monkeys and replace it with a new one. The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment with enthusiasm. Again, replace a third original monkey with a new one. The new one makes it to the stairs and is attacked as well. Two of the four monkeys that beat him have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs, or why they are participating in the beating of the newest monkey.

After replacing the fourth and fifth original monkeys, all the monkeys which have been sprayed with cold water have been replaced. Nevertheless, no monkey ever again approaches the stairs. Why not? Because that's the way it's always been around here. And that's how company policy begins...

Happy Birthday Sok Yee & Loo!

It has been quite a while since i last go to Port Dickson. Most of the time, it was a one day/nite trip because i was working in Seremban back then and the journey to the beach only took me half an hour. So me and my colleagues used to go there to hang out whenever we have any public holidays or during those Christmas or New Year's eve kind of celebrations.

With two birthday celebrations on our way, we made plans to go to PD for a night stay. Although it is not the nicest and cleanest beach in Malaysia, but it used to be the most famous place for picnics and family/frens outing.

It was initially a great weather (check out the above pic) when we reached the apartment and we were really excited getting all our decorations and mischievious plans carried out before the main casts arrived. Balloons, spooky instruction notes, party popper, etc. It might look a bit childish with the balloons, but heck, who cares. I wanna be a kid for a while... and play with them.

See the smiley balloons.. made me all happy :)

The long journey made the cake somehow distorted.. *oppss*

As we were about to start the event, the sky seems to have overheard our plans and decided to lend us a helping hand. It rained so heavily, which made the place real scary... one of the bathrooms even had water dripping from the ceiling (fyi, we rented the penthouse).

O_o
O_o

And because of the heavy rain, we didnt get a chance to stroll down the beach this time around. Kind of a waste, but we have no option. -_-

Nevertheless, we had fun. A lot of crazy games and crazy people as well. I am sure we can do something like this again in the future. Next destination, Genting Highlands maybe?

Here is a big love from us for the two birthday girls!

Loo and Sok Yee.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ONCE AGAIN!

And i cant keep my eyes away from this I-Dog... *drools*

I think i have a long wish list for Christmas.. Santa wouldnt be too pleased :(

I miss u

2 years have gone by since you left us with a heavy heart,
Although u couldnt showed it, but i knew it deep within my heart,
Life is never the same ever since we depart,
I could never find some one who could fill that special part.

Life is so short, as u always say,
To enjoy my life, never delay,
I'd look up to you when i had a bad day,
You will always be there for me, each and every day.

I remember one time when we go shopping,
All of a sudden u just went missing,
I cried so bad, i will never forget that feeling,
So glad it turned out, you were just playing.

But one mistake from the doctor we have entrusted,
Came the news that we could never have expected,
An overdose of anesthetic, a decision they've regretted,
Hence, the brain has been greatly affected.

So there u were lying motionless on your sweet bed,
No positive response even when i touched your warm forehead,
I knew it wont be long, as i hold your hand tightly,
Before you said goodbye, and go to the Almighty.

I really miss u alot, my dear granny,
Your love and guidance, will be forever with me.

Lucky number 5

Lady luck is shining on me today. Oh my god, i am so happy now! *dancing*

I was window-shopping with my colleagues just now in Bangsar after a quick lunch, seriously speaking, i didnt plan to get anything at all. That's what i meant by "window-shopping", right?

While they were trying out the dresses in the fitting room of Cats Whiskers, i was just fiddling with the clothes and dresses. Then a thought came to my mind, "There is absolutely NO harm trying one or two without buying it. I will have to wait for them anyways...".

See, i know that was the devil in me speaking to myself...

After a few catwalks in front of the girls, i bought a dress in the end (giving enuff reason for myself - it is for the UPCOMING wedding DINNERS).

But it wasnt a bad purchase after all. Not only the dress is nice, but i paid it using my MBF Lady's Credit Card and voila, my approval code ends with a digit "5"!

I got a RM50 rebate in my next statement! *yes*

Click the image to check out the promo.

Hmm, it's not really that bad to spend. More reasons for me to shop after this.. *keke*

These people really good at coming up with promotions to lure us to buy stuff. And as usual, they knew that we can't resist them. O_o

By the way, check out this iRobot Roomba® Vacuuming Robot. It is so cool! No more vacuuming yourself, all done with the help of this multi-tasking machine. I came across this product from someone. He is a proud owner of one now. How lucky he is..

So do u see urself living in the world of cyborg in the future? Just like the one we saw in the movie I, Robot starred by Will Smith? Yes, be prepared my dear.

Four liquid stages of life

My new "baby"

Not a real baby ok, i was referring to my new application... u know how we IT ppl talk. -_-

Finally, the pressure is off and i can have a good sleep. My project came to an end last nite when it was deployed into production without any issue. I can heave a sigh of relief, no more odd hours sleeping time, no more burning midnite oil, no more skipping meals, etc.. etc. *yay*

While i still have a little time off today before getting involved in another ongoing project, i need to clear the movies piling up in my hard drive (again). I can never clear them on time before another movies/series landed in my laptop. Gotta nail the Silence of the Lamb first!

And i gotta wash my car today, its been weeks since i did that so there is a layer of dirt which kinda annoys me.

Hopefully i will have time to blog more next week.

Too many things going on...

Yes, there were too many things going on lately until i had no time to blog at all. Pardon me for ditching my blog for a while, it has been a tough time dealing with work, test, personal interest, volunteer activities, wedding events and etc. I barely had more than 4 hours of sleep everyday.

I wont go into details of what has happened, but this has got to be mentioned here. I have passed my Latin Dance (Bronze level) test with HONOURS! Read my lips (or should i say, read my word)! Maybe it isnt such a big deal to some other people, but this is an achievement for me. I can still remember how i fret the test day to come, and how i was so worried till i couldnt sleep well at nite, and how my feet will dance away whenever there is a suitable music around (even under the table!).

Now im just gonna wait for my certificate and a trophy to arrive from UK, in about 2 months time... Yippie! :)

Yesterday was yet another successful and great event for my company's Service Banquet Nite. The event started as early as 2pm and ended around 9.30pm, but i was at the hotel for the whole day. I woke up about 5.45am in the morning (after only 3 hours of sleep due to work's deadline) and rushed to the IOI Putrajaya Marriot Hotel by 7.15am. This year, i was in charge of the stage again, where i had to take care of the pins and flowers which will be given away to the recipients according to their number of years of service. There were some hiccups in between, but overall, it was a good enuff.

We invited Amy Mastura, Mohan, a group of Indian singers and some impersonators to perform that nite (there were also drum performance by a group of Chinese students, cultural dances, etc). The one who impersonated Tina Turner was funny. Not only he was a man who is bold enuff to wear sexy outfit and a blown up hair, but he also did some movements or dances which made me stoned for a while. Now dont get me wrong, i am not saying he is not good, he IS absolutely great. But knowing that he is a guy and doing all those things he did, i was just speechless. But i guess that is the objective for the performance, a very good laugh!

And the highlights of the nite was the appearance of Anuar Zain, a down to earth and good looking chap. All the Malay girls were crazy over him. Haha.

Anuar Zain with a bunch of ONers.

And i finally had a good sleep in the hotel. Tomoro will be another battle day for me..

Happy Halloween!

Tomoro is Halloween, a tradition originated from Ireland and that also explains why there are so many horror flicks in the cinema lately (but that doesnt mean they are really scary though).

We never celebrate Halloween in Malaysia, so i never get to experience the process of knocking on people's door asking for candies, or dressed up as creatures from underworld, or even decorated my house with carved pumpkins of scary faces.

I told this to a fren in the United States, he was not surprised. Nor did he thinks that it is anything big deal, because we have other festival such as the Chinese New Year where we can get lotsa ang pows that they dont get to experience there as well. Hmm, that is true!

Anyway, i hope i can get to "taste" some other culture's festival next time. It is gonna be fun, im sure! And i might look like a "jakun", someone just came out from a village or something. Haha.

Here, i'll share some of the pumpkin's pic i got from a forwarded mail.

It's amazing how some people can make a pumpkin look so evil. Ooohh.

And this is the funniest picture of all. So damn creative!

What is your sign?

Yes, I'm a Leo. And The Lion is normally related to being dominant, ambitious, courageous, independent and a born leader. *deep thoughts*

http://www.astrology-online.com/leo.htm

Its rather interesting how some people from can be so obsessed with their zodiac signs. I mean, yes, u can use them as a guidance, but it is not 100% true. Everyone is unique in a way, even twins have something different between them. So i dont really think the characteristics listed for one sign can be applied to all.

On another unrelated matter, i've downloaded the movie, Silence of the Lambs. I've been hearing a lot about this particular thriller/horror/scary movie, one of the best of all times which was produced, erm.. about 15 years ago? I tried to get it sometime back, but failed. It took me 8 freaking hours last nite to get that one downloaded (minus a few hours when my broadband dropped halfway downloading).

Conclusion : Streamyx broadband - NOT reliable and NOT so FAST as it is claimed to be.

But we have no other option. -___-
